Uniplex Business Software Overview

Uniplex Business Software is a unique, integrated office automation suite that runs on Unix servers using character terminals, terminal emulation on PCs, or X Window terminals. It combines word processing, a spreadsheet, and the Informix® relational database (forms, SQL, and report writer interfaces), with POP3 and IMAP server for electronic mail, a calendar/group scheduler, interface to LDAP directories, personal productivity applications, and business graphics. Uniplexs' acclaimed Universal Mail Server (UMS) has been extensively re-engineered to make it a true enterprise-wide Email server, utilizing Open Technologies such as POP3, IMAP, LDAP, RFC822, MIME, while still keeping one foot in the character terminal world with our own Uniplex Mail client.

Consistent, product-wide controls combine with soft keys, pop-ups, and an integrated file manager to provide a simple and easy-to-use interface. All modules are tightly integrated including data transfer and “hot key” switching capabilities. The system may easily be customized using the screen/menu builder to completely rebuild all screens and menus or any part of them. The ability to execute any function from a command line API provides total flexibility.

Completely functional Unix printing is supported including multiple fonts and graphics on PostScript and PCL laser printers. Spelling and hyphenation dictionaries plus a thesaurus are available in eleven languages. More than forty filters are provided for bidirectional conversion of third-party word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and database formats.

Uniplex enables our customers to communicate on a timely basis between geographically and technologically dispersed users. Real-time information exchange is provided through notification, calendaring, and scheduling facilities, easy access to the company information base is provided through document conversion and database tools, and business process automation is facilitated through MIME-based document exchange.
